Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA northerly low level flow produced upslope low clouds along the south end of the San Joaquin Valley during the evening of December 31 as there was plenty of low level moisture in place from recent storms. Some of the low level moisture banked up against the mountains in the Tehachapi area resulting in dense fog with visibility below a quarter mile in subfreezing temperatures which also produced black ice on State Route 58. The fog dissipated by late evening as the low level flow turned to the southeast and dried out the lower atmosphere in the Tehachapi area.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeFreezing fog with visibility below a quarter mile was reported in Tehachapi.
