episode_narrativeWarmer air flowing over a snow-covered ground caused dense fog to form, which lasted for about a 36 hour period. The dense fog developed on December 20, 2007 and finally disippated on December 22. Visibilities were frequently at or below 1/4 mile during this period. Numerous schools either cancelled or delayed classes for two days. Also, aviation was impacted, with many flights cancelled or delayed. The Iowa DOT urged no travel in southeast Iowa during the evening hours on December 20, as visibilities were frequently near zero. A car slammed into the back of a semi-truck on I-80 in Bettendorf, Iowa at 8 am on December 21 in the dense fog. Two people were injured in the accident.
