| episode_narrative | Dense fog combined with freezing temperatures to deposit a thin layer of ice on many roads. Several accidents were reported. A single fatality accident occurred at Highway 218 and Melrose Avenue on the southwest side of Iowa City. Iowa State Patrol said the driver failed to stop at the end of an exit ramp and was broadsided by a semi-tractor trailor. Weather was not considered a factor. Another accident resulted in two fatalities at Highway 1 and Interstate 80 on the north side of Iowa City. Iowa City police said fog and slick roads were present but were not considered a factor. |
