| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Temperatures fell well below freezing during the predawn hours of December 31st near and along the Red River in Miller County and across portions of Howard County in Southwest Arkansas. The sky was mostly clear and with rather wet soil conditions from previous rainfall...perfect conditions developed for the formation of patchy dense freezing fog. A thin layer of ice formed across elevated bridges and overpasses with numerous accidents and injuries reported on the Hwy. 71 Index bridge near Texarkana. There was also one indirect fatality reported from an accident on the bridge. There were two additional injuries reported in Howard County near Nashville when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign due to the low visibility. |
