Weather forecast office sourcewfo_sourceAWOS
Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA drier mid-level atmosphere set up across the region on the afternoon of November 24 behind a departing shortwave trough. Strong pools of low-level moisture remained over portions of southeastern Utah though due to prior rainfall on November 23. As a result, the environment here remained saturated for most of the day, eventually prompting very brief and localized dense fog just after sunset before the low-level pool of moisture dried out overnight.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLocalized dense fog developed near the Abajo mountains early in the night of November 24. The KBDG AWOS at the Blanding Municipal Airport reported about one hour of 1/4-mile visibility due to fog just after sunset. The low-level pool of moisture supporting fog development dried up quickly after, limiting the fog's duration and potential impacts from reduced visibility. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
