Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA significant winter storm brought snow to much of eastern Utah and western Colorado. As precipitation began to dwindle over southwestern Colorado, dense fog began to develop in areas that had received fresh snow. These patches of dense fog were isolated and transient, with sensors going in and out of dense fog conditions.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe KGUC AWOS in Gunnison recorded an approximately 7 hour period where visibilities dropped as low as 0.25 mile. This was in between periods of light to moderate snowfall. The fog during this period was transient, with periods of visibility as low as 0.25 mile and periods with visibility of 10 miles or better. Therefore, due to the transient nature of this dense fog, this was not a missed Dense Fog event. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
