Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA significant winter storm brought snow to much of eastern Utah and western Colorado. As precipitation began to dwindle over southwestern Colorado, dense fog began to develop in areas that had received fresh snow. These patches of dense fog were isolated and transient, with sensors going in and out of dense fog conditions.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe KDRO ASOS in Durango reported an approximately 2.5 hour period where visibility at the airport was less than a mile, dropping as low as 0.25 mile for a period. This dense fog was confined to the airport, as noted by satellite imagery. Therefore this was an extremely isolated event, making it not a missed Dense Fog Advisory. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
