Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAs inversions set up across many of the valleys of eastern Utah and western Colorado, the dense snowpack present in the Four Corners region continued to provide extra moisture beneath the inversion layer, leading to prolonged periods of dense fog.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeDense fog once again formed in the Four Corners and Upper Dolores Basin of southwestern Colorado on the evening of December 16th, but unlike previous events this dense fog did not lift for almost two days. The ASOS located at the Cortez - Montezuma County Airport reported visibilities reduced to less than one quarter of a mile for several hours during this period.
