Freezing fog developed behind the cold front, focusing along the New Mexico and Colorado border from Raton to Clayton. While light icing was recorded by the Raton Municipal Airport ASOS, heavier ice accretions were reported by a weather observer over rural areas of Colfax and Union Counties on the morning of February 1, 2023. Power outages in this area resulted from the ice accretion.
