Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeClear skies and light winds prevailed across central California during the evening of December 16 which allowed for widespread dense fog to develop across the San Joaquin Valley during the morning of December 17. The fog lifted into a low cloud deck across most of the valley by late afternoon, but persisted in some locations until the morning of December 18. A stratus deck persisted across most of the valley until the afternoon of December 19 when mixing provided by a storm to the north of our area helped dissipate the low cloud deck.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeVisibility below a quarter mile was reported in Atwater, Merced and Madera. Several webcams showed visibility below 1000 feet.
