| episode_narrative | Three inches of rain fell over the New Buffalo area between 9 and 10PM EST causing extensive flooding throughout the city. The city sewer system was unable to handle the rainfall which created backup flooding in many business and homes. City Hall suffered extensive flood damage causing a temporary relocation of some city offices.Flash flooding was also reported over the eastern half of Berrien county where water was reported covering many roadways, and ponding of water continued into the early morning hours. As a result of the heavy rains over parts of Berrien and Cass Counties, the St. Joseph River at Niles went above its flood stage of 11 feet, cresting at13.4 feet at 4PM EST on June 10. The river did not fall to below flood stage until June 12. |
