| episode_narrative | A strong pressure gradient developed across the Desert Southwest with a passing trough on the 9th. This gradient produced strong surface wind gusts up to 35-45 mph, which was strong enough to create patchy blowing dust and even a dense channel of blowing dust in northwest Pinal county in the afternoon. The channel of dust blew across Highway 347 north of Maricopa and lowered visibility to 0.25 miles or less. No accidents were reported. |
| event_narrative | Around 5 PM MST, a dust channel was noticed on satellite. At roughly 5:20 PM MST, an Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) webcam showed visibility within this dust channel had fallen to or below a quarter of a mile along Highway 347 between the town of Maricopa and the greater Phoenix area. A dust storm warning was issued in response. Visibility improved on the webcam at around 6:10 PM MST. Wind gusts in the area were observed up to 40-45 mph. No traffic incidents were reported on Highway 347 due to the dust and winds. |
