During the day on the 14th the winds increased to near or above 60 MPH sporadically through the day then declined some that night. On the 15th a few sporadic wind gusts around 60 MPH occurred by early afternoon then declined. However there were a few high wind gusts reported in Cheyenne County. The peak gust for the event was 76 MPH near Firstview.||These winds also caused a dust storm during the day on the 15th. Near zero visibility was reported in Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties. I-70 was closed from Limon to the Kansas border due to multiple crashes west of Kit Carson County. A car accident at the intersection of Hwy 287 and 40 blocked the highway for six hours. |
