| episode_narrative | Thunderstorms developed across the deserts of south central Arizona during the afternoon hours on October 23rd. Most of the stronger storms produced large hail but some of them generated gusty outflow winds, sufficient to stir up patchy and dense blowing dust. Gusty outflow winds generated dense blowing dust to the west of Casa Grande; at about 1541MST a driver on Interstate 8 reported visibility lowered below 100 feet in a dust storm. The dust storm occurred about 12 miles to the west of Casa Grande. A Dust Storm Warning was issued for the area beginning at 1539MST and it remained in effect through 1630MST. No accidents were reported due to the low visibility and hazardous driving conditions. |
| event_narrative | Thunderstorms developed southeast of Phoenix during the afternoon hours on October 23rd; some of the stronger storms produced gusty outflow winds that generated patchy dense blowing dust across portions of northwest Pinal County. Locally dense blowing dust resulted in dust storm conditions to the west of the town of Casa Grande. According to the general public, at 1541MST a driver 12 miles west of Casa Grande reported that visibility had dropped below 100 feet in a dust storm on Interstate 8. The driver was nearly due south of the town of Stanfield. A Dust Storm Warning had been issued just 2 minutes prior for the area and the warning remained in effect through 1630MST. Fortunately there were no reports of accidents due to the low visibility and associated hazardous driving conditions. |
