| episode_narrative | Thunderstorms developed across portions of La Paz County during the evening hours on August 9th; some of the stronger storms produced gusty outflow winds in excess of 40 mph which stirred up significant amounts of dust and subsequently created dust storm conditions. The dust storm conditions affected motorists driving along Interstate 10 from Quartzsite east through the town of Brenda. Reports from local law enforcement and emergency managers indicated visibility had lowered to zero miles over portions of Interstate 10; despite the severely restricted visibility and hazardous driving conditions no accidents were reported. A Dust Storm Warning was issued for much of the area starting at 2148MST and it continued through 2300MST. |

According to local emergency managers located 3 miles southeast of Brenda, at 2100MST visibility was reported to be zero miles along the interstate at Mile Marker 40. Later in the evening, at 2204MST, the La Paz County Dispatch reported little or no visibility in a dust storm along Interstate 10 at Highway 95 south. A Dust Storm Warning was issued for the area starting at 2148MST and the warning continued through 2300MST. Despite the severely restricted visibility and hazardous driving conditions, no reports of accidents were received. |
