| episode_narrative | Thunderstorms developed to the southeast of the greater Phoenix area during the late evening hours on August 9th; some of the stronger storms stirred up significant amounts of dust which resulted in areas of dense blowing dust and dust storm conditions. Among other locations, the dust storms affected the area between the town of Florence and the town of San Tan Valley. At 2342MST a trained spotter 9 miles southeast of Queen Creek and near San Tan Valley reported that visibility had dropped to one quarter mile in a dust storm. A Dust Storm Warning was issued for the area at exactly 2342MST and it remained in effect through 0115MST the following morning. No accidents were reported due to the severely restricted visibility and subsequent hazardous driving conditions. |

Some of the stronger storms produced outflow winds in excess of 40 mph that stirred up areas of dense blowing dust, resulting in dust storm conditions in the Queen Creek and San Tan Valley areas. According to a trained weather spotter, at 2342MST visibility dropped to one quarter of a mile in a dust storm about 9 miles southeast of Queen Creek, near the intersection of Hunt Highway and Magma Road. A Dust Storm Warning was issued for the area beginning at 2342MST and it continued through 0115MST the next morning. |
