| episode_narrative | Strong thunderstorms developed across portions of southwest Arizona and northwest Mexico during the afternoon hours on the 5th. Gusty outflow winds in excess of 40 mph developed and overspread much of Yuma county, producing dust storm conditions. Dense blowing dust impacted the community of Yuma, as well as motorists on the Interstate 8 corridor. |
| event_narrative | Thunderstorms developed during the afternoon hours across portions of southwest Arizona and northwest Mexico on July 5th, and they produced gusty east to southeast outflow winds in excess of 40 mph. The winds spread into the communities of Yuma and Martinez lake and created very hazardous driving conditions during the afternoon rush hour. At 1722MST, a trained weather spotter in the Fortuna Foothills reported visibility reduced to 1/4 mile in a dust storm in the Mesa Del Sol neighborhood. Winds were gusting to around 30 mph at the time. A Dust Storm Warning had been issued for the area beginning at about 1640MST and running through 1600MST. |
