| event_narrative | Isolated thunderstorms developed over the south central deserts during the evening hours on August 5th, and the storms produced gusty outflow winds in excess of 30 mph. The gusty winds spread into the greater Phoenix area and generated areas of dense blowing dust which led to the issuance of a dust storm warning. According to a National Weather Service employee 3 miles south of Usery Mountain Park, at 1019 pm winds gusting to around 30 mph lowered visibility to less than one quarter mile in dense blowing dust. The dense blowing dust created very hazardous driving conditions in the greater Phoenix area. |
