event_narrativeStrong thunderstorm outflow winds in excess of 40 mph produced areas of dense blowing dust across portions of the greater Phoenix area and the central deserts. One NWS employee in south Chandler reported visibility below one quarter mile in blowing dust, another in east Mesa reported similar low visibility. A trained spotter in the town of Maricopa reported a dust storm, meanwhile another spotter in east Mesa reported a wall of dust from the surface to 2500 feet approaching US 60 and Greenfield road.
