episode_narrativeIn the late afternoon of the 16th, two lines of storms formed, one in northwestern Kansas, the other in eastern Colorado. The northwestern Kansas storms slowly moved to the north-northeast as the Colorado line moved to the northeast. As these two lines collided, additional storms formed near the I-70 corridor. Storms lasted for over 5 hours, produced winds up to 80 to 90 MPH, causing damage at a brick car wash in St. Francis and causing visibility to drop to near zero from blowing dust. Additionally, hail up to 1 inch was reported.
event_narrativeOff duty NWS employee reported a 50 mph wind according to personal weather station and stated that may be underdoing it some. Did report 50 yard visibility in dust.
