On August 10, the U.S. Department of Agriculture declared all of Eastern Ohio an agricultural disaster area. Precipitation deficits for the period of May through August show the area to be anywhere between 2 and 8 inches below normal normal. Preliminary estimates predict a $600 million agricultural loss statewide from the drought.
