| episode_narrative | The drought strengthened during the first half of the month. Showers became more common during the last 2 weeks for Greenup and Boyd Counties, but missed much of Carter and Lawrence Counties. Monthly totals ranged from 4.5 inches at Warnock of Greenup County, to around an inch at Charlie in Lawrence County and Grayson Lake of Carter County. The extreme heat quickly dried the soil after any showers. The heat on the 5th and the 30th was the most intense. Ashland reached 104 degrees on the 30th, with 103 degrees at Grayson and Warnock. On the 5th, Ashland had 100 degrees. Grayson Lake was about 4 feet below its summer pool elevation by month's end. |
