wfo_sourceOFFICIAL NWS OBS.
event_narrativeRainfall was well short of normal across western Massachusetts during the month of April. North Adams reported only 1.05 inches of rainfall for the entire month, which was 2.98 inches below normal. Pittsfield reported just 1.49 which was 2.38 inches below normal. Other monthly samples included 2.05 inches at Great Barrington and 2.52 at Dalton. The combination of low rainfall, along with frequent gusty winds, turned the underbrush into tinder. This scenario led to some brush fires during the month across the Berkshires.
