episode_narrativeA very dry pattern became established over southeast New Mexico and southwest Texas as the waning strong El Nino sent storm systems to other parts of the U.S. At the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office the rain total for April 1998 was 0.00" (not even a trace of precipitation). The month was very dry over the entire region with only a few stations reporting any measurable precipitation and those amounts were only around 1/10 inch.
