Monthly rainfall departures from normal for Norfolk included: May/-2.21 inches, June/-2.73 inches, August/-3.05 inches, September/-1.93 inches. This caused significant crop damage throughout much of the area which was estimated to be around $63.8 million. Northampton County alone reported $11.5 million in crop damage, while Accomack County reported $7.5 million.
