| episode_narrative | Dry weather continued for many areas through the month extending the lack of winter precipitation that left snow pack 50 to 80 percent below normal. Concerns were mounting for limited irrigiation water and low stream flows, and for extreme fire danger conditions through the upcoming spring. A few areas, mainly in the northwest, did see an increase in late winter showers. Farmington finished the month with above normal precipitation. A late winter storm from the 21st through the 23rd produced one of the few heavy snow of the entire winter season, but the snow was too late to help hard-pressed ski resorts which had closed early. Some areas of the Sandia Mountains near Albuquerque received one-third of their usual winter snowfall during this late month storm. However, warm weather that followed quickly sapped the moisture and kept alive the prospect of extreme fire danger. |
