Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA bitter cold arctic airmass moved south into central New York on the 26th and 27th. A storm moved through the area on the 26th before strengthening off the New England coast. The difference between this storm and high pressure in Ontario created a strong north wind. Low temperatures the morning of the 27th were between 10 and 25 below zero with clear skies. At the same time, the wind was 5 to 10 miles an hour with the wind chill values as cold as 30 below zero. Areas further to the west were warmer with clouds.
