Based upon the preliminary report, the statewide monthly mean temperature of 71.1 degrees was the second coolest on record only surpassed by the statewide 70.6 degree mean temperature in 1895, the first year of statewide records. At the Atlantic City International Airport, the monthly mean temperature of 71.7 degrees was 3.0 degrees below normal and the coolest ever on record. July 2000, for most of the state was also wetter than normal, particularly across the far northern and coastal counties. In the 16 counties served by the Mount Holly National Weather Service office county weighted monthly precipitation totals ranged from 3.9 inches in Camden County to 6.9 inches in Cape May County. Normal monthly precipitation is around 4 inches. At the Atlantic City International Airport, the monthly precipitation total of 7.88 inches was the fourth wettest on record.
