The chilly air allowed for widespread freezing temperatures across the lower and mid Valley, as well as across the coastal counties for several hours.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeAfter midnight, temperatures dropped to or just below freezing across Hidalgo County for nearly eight hours. The Linn/San Manuel RAWS site recorded a low of 31 degrees. The RAWS site at the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge and the RAWS site in Linn/San Manuel both reported lows of 32 degrees. Co-Op observers in Edinburg, McCook, and McAllen recorded lows of 32 degrees, while the San Manuel Co-Op observer reported a low of 29 degrees. The AWOS site in Weslaco reported a low of 32 degrees as well.
