| Event narrativeevent_narrative | The MT DOT road sensor located at milepost 8.1 on MT-141, reported extreme wind chill values between -20 and -31 deg. F. Wind speeds varied from 10 to 19 mph during the morning of Jan. 5. Other wind chills observed(all in degrees F): -25 Helmville, -25 Garrison Junction, -20 MacDonald Pass and -19 at Bert Mooney Airport ASOS. Along the wind chills a few locations including MacDonald Pass saw snow, blowing and drifting snow at times. Deer Lodge reported snow, blowing snow and wind gusts to 23 mph between midnight and 3 am MST on Jan. 5 as the arctic cold front passed through. The Elliston COOP measured 7 of snow with 0.31 of precipitation between Jan. 4-5. |
