The arctic air then remained into the 27th. The coldest temperatures of the arctic outbreak occurred during the morning of the 22nd. Low temperatures on the morning of the 22nd generally ranged from 25 to 35 below zero across northwest areas...with 15 to 25 below zero across much of the remainder of northern Maine...to zero to 5 above Downeast. The coldest recorded temperature of the outbreak...37 below zero at Big Black River...occurred during the morning of the 22nd. Low temperatures on the morning of the 23rd generally ranged from 15 to 25 below zero across northern areas...to zero to 10 below Downeast. High temperatures from the 22nd through the 24th struggled to reach zero across northern areas...with generally single digits Downeast. Low temperatures from the 24th to the 27th varied with the extent of cloud cover. Gusty winds occasionally produced dangerous wind chills during the outbreak with values of 45 to 55 below zero at times across northern areas and 25 to 35 below zero Downeast. Wind Chill Advisories and Warnings were issued at various times during the outbreak.
