Several record lows were broken on these days, with lows in the 20s in the valleys and 30s near the coast. The high deserts and some foothill locations fell into the teens. It was even colder in the mountains, going below zero at some places, resulting in several instances of broken water lines and pipes burst in San Bernardino County, as well as a few in Julian. Multiple nights of a hard freeze lows 8 to 18 were the big issue there.The main, overall impacts were in the foothills and deserts from Thermal to Julian to Vicorville, in the range of sea level to 4000 feet. The dry air and cold air mass was key to the low temps and long duration. |
