| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | The third intrusion of modified arctic air into South Florida occurred from December 26th through the 29th with the coldest mornings occurring on the 27th and 28th. The duration of the third event was slightly shorter than the previous event, however temperatures where about the same. This event also ensured that the average temperature for December would remain well below average keeping the area on pace to reach the coldest December in recorded history for the region. Across northern and interior sections of the CWA crops that were already suffering from the previous two events were practically finished off.||Crop damage amounts for the three December freezes are included in the event summaries for this episode. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | A hard freeze once again occurred across areas west of Lake Okeechobee as temperatures fell into the 20s during both mornings of the 27th and 28th. Some of the coldest temperatures across the region during this period were: Palmdale 21, Brighton and Muse 24, La Belle 26, Ortona and Moore Haven at 27, Big Cypress 28, and Clewiston at 29. Heavy frost and freezing fog were also reported with this event. What cold sensitive crops were left in the area from the previous two events faced more severe damage with some crops being totally wiped out. Some citrus crops were also frozen.||Crop damage amount estimate of $0.73 million is the combined total of all three December freeze events. |
