This was the first of two periods of much below normal temperatures which impacted south Florida during January 2010.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeFreezing temperatures occurred over most of Hendry County for two consecutive nights. Temperatures were at or below freezing from midnight to 8 AM on January 6th, and again for a few hours around dawn on January 7th. Lowest temperature readings ranged from 26 in LaBelle to 30 degrees in Clewiston. ||Extent of crop damage is unknown for Hendry County, but damage to sugarcane and seasonal vegetable and fruit crops was noted.
