| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | A large arctic high pressure system moved toward the area during the 16th and 17th. The extent of the arctic air mass kept maximum temperatures only in the teens and 20s, with minimum temperatures down into the single digits. As a storm system remained well to the northeast, the combination of this along with strong arctic high pressure to the west allowed for gusty winds. This produced wind chill values around zero for awhile, especially during the nighttime hours.||Temperatures in the single digits during the early morning of the 17th caused water pipes to break throughout the eastern shore region. Broken water pipes were reported at the Bethlehem Mart in Bethlehem, The Bridge Restaurant on Tilghman Island and at two churches; the church of God in Gransonville and at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton. The weekend masses were cancelled at Saints Peter and Paul due to a sprinkler system pipe that broke and flooded the church sanctuary.||The temperature in Easton dropped to 12 degrees on the morning of the 16th, then bottomed out at 7 on the morning of the 17th. |
