Highest snowfall amounts were mainly 4 to 7 inches, with specific reports of 7.5 inches near Galesville (Trempealeau County) and 6.5 inches near La Crosse (La Crosse County) and Warrens (Monroe County).||Northwest winds gusting to 25 to 35 mph in the wake of an arctic cold front produced blowing and drifting snow, especially on ridgetops. In addition to the wind and snow, sharply falling temperatures resulted in bitterly cold wind chills of 20 below to 40 below, which lingered into December 22.||Due to several in a series of snow-producing systems, La Crosse would go on to establish an all-time record monthly snowfall of 32.7 inches for December 2008. The previous record snowfall for December was 30.4 inches in 1990. |
