| Event narrativeevent_narrative | The Marquette County Sheriff's Department rescued six swimmers in distress and two from a nearby rock at Little Presque Isle in Marquette on the afternoon of the 11th. First responders then located a number of others stranded out on the island. Overall, forty people were safely transported back to shore from the island with no injures reported. Northwest to north winds to 15 mph with gusts to 18 mph were observed that afternoon from nearly marine observation sites. Strong currents and waves to three feet were reported during the incident. |
