| episode_narrative | A deep low in the southern hemisphere east of New Zealand generated surf of 6 to 10 feet along the south- and east-facing shores of all the Hawaiian Islands. Three surfers were injured in waters off Waikiki Beach on Oahu on the 10th. Also on the 10th, King Kamehameha Day in Hawaii, lifeguards rescued 18 people, 8 of them children under the age of 6, at Waikiki; and assisted another 120 swimmers in getting out of the water safely or helping them avoid hazardous situations. No significant property damage was reported. |
