Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeBreezy conditions were in place across the coastal waters with a moderate risk for rip currents in place. Several swimmers were rescued from the waters off of Honeymoon Island due to a strong rip current that developed near a jetty.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeFive people swimming near a jetty got caught in a strong rip current and had to be rescued. A beach goer rescued two men before firefighters arrived and rescued another man and two women. The women were both 19-years-old, and the three men were ages 23, 40, and 50. Four of the five people were treated by paramedics at the scene. In addition, around 1 PM EDT, two other children caught in a rip current were rescued by the beach goer, but neither required medical treatment.
