episode_narrativeA two day period of strong northeast winds developed across the region between strong high pressure to the northwest of the area and weak low pressure tracking up the coast. The resultant tidal piling caused widespread minor and isolated moderate coastal flooding along Western Long Island Sound, New York Harbor, and the south shore bays of Nassau and Queens Counties.
event_narrativeSome minor coastal flooding was reported in the area of Rockaway Boulevard and Brookville Boulevard near John F. Kennedy International Airport, as a few vehicles were stuck in flood waters between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm (EDT). Three calls were placed to 911 for assistance. No injuries were reported and the coastal flooding resulted in a temporary road closure until the waters receded.
