| episode_narrative | A combination of swells from an intense low pressure system east New Zealand and gusty trades had impacted south facing shores of the islands. Surf heights of 10 to 15 ft and higher sets were in effect from the 24th and later downgraded on the 27th of the month. WSO Pago Pago recorded trades of 30 mph with gusts up to 47 mph, which had facilitated the growth of surfs as they were near shores. The Department of Public Safety had reported numerous debris been washed over low lying areas of the eastern district of the island of Tutuila. Also, coastal erosions had a direct effect on various landslides that have been reported by village mayors. The Department of Public Works reported a major reconstruction or clean up of roads in the aftermath of the episode. The Department of Port and Administration had closed sea transportation among the islands of Tutuila, Aunuu and Manua on the 24th to 27th. No other damages had been reported. |
