episode_narrativeA low north of the islands generated surf of 10 to 15 feet along the north facing shores, and 6 to 10 feet along the east facing shores, of Kauai. A 69-year-old man from California almost drowned and suffered critical injuries after swimming in waters 100 yards offshore from Moloaa Bay in northeast Kauai in the early afternoon of the 19th. The current in the area became too strong for the man. There were no reports of serious property damage.
