episode_narrativeA persistent northwest flow started on February 4th and continued through February 6th. This caused blowout tides along the Delaware River and its tributaries starting with the day time low tide on February 5th and persisted through the morning low tide on February 6th. Coming off of the full moon assisted, because spring tides cause the biggest differences in water levels between high and low tides. The lowest tides occurred with the day time low tide on February 5th. Low tides reached 2.5 feet below mean lower low water at Reedy Island (New Castle County, Delaware) and 2.8 feet below mean lower low water in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Blowout tides start at 1.8 feet below mean lower low water. The northwest flow subsided later in the day on February 6th and the tide cycle was also further removed from spring tides.
