| episode_narrative | A potent pair of storms moved through the Mid Atlantic and Northeast during the 7th and into the 8th. One potent storm moved across the eastern Great Lakes region during the evening of the 7th, while a secondary potent storm developed along a front off the New Jersey coast. Both of these storms combined into one large and intense storm early on the 8th across the Canadian Maritimes. Behind these storms, much colder air flowed across the region, and this combined with a tightened pressure gradient, which produced strong offshore winds. This caused blow-out tides to occur during the late evening hours of the 8th and the early morning hours of the 9th.||The water level at the Reedy Point tidal gage dropped to 1.82 feet below mean lower low water at 2:42 AM EST on the 9th then bottomed out at 2.39 feet below mean lower low water at 4:00 AM EST on the 9th. The water level at the Delaware City tidal gage dropped to 1.84 feet below mean lower low water at 2:48 AM EST on the 9th then bottomed out at 2.50 feet below mean lower low water at 4:12 AM EST on the 9th. Meanwhile, further southeast, the water level at the Lewes tidal gage dropped to 1.88 feet below mean lower low water at 10:48 PM EST on the 8th and bottomed out at 2.31 feet below mean lower low water between 11:36 PM EST and 11:42 PM EST on the 8th. Blow-out tides begin at 1.80 feet below mean lower low water. |
