episode_narrativeStrong low pressure developed offshore of the coast of eastern North Carolina during the early morning hours of October 19th. The low moved northeast away from the region during the day, however strong north winds of 30 to 40 mph developed along the coast. These strong winds led to large seas that produced high surf and some minor ocean over-wash over the northern Outer Banks.
event_narrativeOcean over-wash caused an abandoned house to collapse into the ocean near Rodanthe around 11 am. Portions of Highway 12 near Rodanthe were briefly closed due to high water from ocean over-wash during the late morning and early afternoon hours.
