| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Scattered snow squalls developed ahead of and with an arctic cold front that tracked through eastern New York from west to east from late morning through the afternoon of December 4. Squalls were mostly confined to portions of the Mohawk Valley, Helderbergs and immediate Capital District where several New York State Mesonet and Department of Transportation highway cameras captured visibility at or under one quarter of a mile due to blowing snow from the combination of falling snow and gusty winds. Additionally, the Albany International Airport ASOS METAR reported blowing snow and one quarter mile visibility in the afternoon of December 4. Wind gusts captured by the ASOS and New York State Mesonet cameras ranged from about 30 to 45 mph. ||Key impacts: hazardous travel due to reduced visibility and slick roadways, travel delays. |
