Event narrativeevent_narrativeA 23 year old male was swimming with friends when he began signaling for help. A bystander tried to rescue him but was unsuccessful. Virginia Beach Police responded but were unable to locate the swimmer until his body was recovered the following day. While the exact cause of drowning is unclear, there was a high risk for rip currents that day.
