Event narrativeevent_narrativeVolusia County Beach Safety reported a 37 year-old male and a female companion from out of state were caught in a rip current around 4pm. The female was able to return to shore and call for help. Beach safety personnel recovered the victim from beyond the sandbar. He was then transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. The incident occurred at an unguarded section of the beach.
