episode_narrativeAn avalanche occurred in a closed section of the Snowmass Ski Area and resulted in the death of a 25 year old male.
event_narrativeTwo professional skiers were in a closed section of Hanging Valley Wall at Snowmass Ski Area in the Lower Ladders area when one of them triggered an avalanche. The victim jumped from a cliff into the snow below and got caught in the avalanche which carried him into an area with trees. The skier was buried under the snow and not found by rescuers until about 20 minutes later. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The slide was described as a 4-foot thick slab, 80 feet wide and 100 to 150 feet long.
