| episode_narrative | A skier unintentionally triggered an avalanche which resulted in a partial burial and leg injury. |
| event_narrative | Two backcountry skiers were skiing in the Butler Fork area of Big Cottonwood Canyon during the day. The terrain is noted to be a northeast facing bowl, with slope angle of about 38 degrees, and elevation of around 9000 feet. A fracture in the snow occurred approximately 50 feet above them. While one skier was on the periphery of the ensuing slide, the other was caught in the middle, pushed into a stand of trees, and buried up to their chest. During this time, the skier suffered an apparent leg/hamstring injury. The injured skier was subsequently dug out by their partner. No exact time is given, so event time is estimated. |
